H4H Present Goals and short term Strategies
Monday, August 3rd, 2009 Dave's Thoughts, Events by DaveVWHomeowners For Hope Foundation Why should millions of Americans lose their homes so banks can be more profitable! Let’s give hope for meaningful Loan Modification solutions.
Tell us your story here: http://homeowners4hope.org/wordpress/home-owners-in-their-own-words/
Dear Reader,
Since my first email last Wednesday in regards to creating a public outcry to support homeowners in loan distress, I have received an immense amount of support, positive comments, and discussion on the topic. As expected, this is a highly charged issue affecting 1 in 10 homeowners or more nationwide. That adds up to over 10 million hard working, tax paying owners who would really prefer not to be kicked out of their homes due to conditions well beyond their control so that banks can continue to pad their bottom line at our expense.
Our goals are simple: Create enough public awareness and media attention to get the major banks and government to sit up and take notice.
We are asking for two very simple things:
1) Banks and the government should create immediate procedures that provide meaningful homeowner Loan Modifications in a reasonable timeframe like 90 days or less.
2) Restore homeowners mortgage related credit to zero lates and re-run credit scores immediately to improve their ability to get normal credit or buy a home.
(See our Mortgage Credit Moratorium proposal here: Mortgage Credit Moratorium)
At this early juncture, with the help of a rapidly forming advisory group, we have formulated the following general short term objectives:
- We are planning the first public forum discussion to be held within the next 10 days. This will be held in front of one of more of the major banks. The first location is likely to be in San Diego downtown area. However if we can get enough support, we could hold 2-3 at one time to increase exposure and reinforce the need.
- Attract as many affected homeowners who would like to participate in a show of support by attending the rally.
- Attract media attention and support to help expand the awareness and participation and deliver the message to the major banks and government officials.
We need your support in the following ways:
- Please relay the message to anyone you know who has been affected by the failure of banks and government to address the problem.
- Encourage participation in our efforts by homeowners, media people, political persons, banks, realtors, and trade related groups.
- Support in the form of writing, advisory help on growing a Political Action Group to help homeowners nation wide have a direct say in matters as important as this.
- Media support in the form of writing, online media television, print stories in major newspapers.
- Homeowner support services like loan or financial counseling, pro-bono Loan Modification help, etc.
- Technical support in the form of video, rally planning, internet help.
- Political contact assistance.
- Industry support assistance.

Manifesto – Home Owners for Hope
Saturday, August 1st, 2009 Bank Wrongs, Dave's Thoughts, Featured Products, Portfolio by seidel.phyllisDear reader,
I can not stand by idly any longer, as hardworking, tax paying, and industrious homeowners continue to lose their homes and spend months and now years under the thoughtlessness of the large banks and ineptitude of the government. It is clear to me and likely most of you, that as homeowners, taxpayers, and voting citizens we have ABSOLUTELY NO SAY OR INFLUENCE in the state of the housing crises. Up until now that is! Clearly the banks are looking for ways to protect their profits and grow market share. The officials we elect to represent us are either directly or indirectly in the boardrooms of these banks and large investor groups ensuring their success at our expense month after month, now year after year.
Through the prodding of a well meaning client, I have decided to initiate something I hope will have significant positive impact, in a short period of time, to force major banks and government to acknowledge what they are not doing, and make significant improvements in the manner and timing in which homeowners in default are helped. I just can’t take it any more!
If you are on this initial email list of 60 or more readers, it is because you are a friend, client, trusted advisor, media person, or distressed homeowner. I hope the list grows to 50,000 or 5 million in short order. I have never attempted to do anything like this before, so wish me luck or tell me to “go fishing instead because this could ruin your career”! I assume this helps the cause of 8,000 homeowners PER DAY going into default, with no hope of the banks or government doing anything remotely close to providing them short term help to weather the storm. It is quoted lately that around 2.5 million homeowners nationwide will enter foreclosure this year, with and additional 2-3 million from last year and who knows how many next year. And yet nothing gets done. Again I ask, “Where is the Outrage?”. Why no protests in the street in front of the big banks or on national TV with showing the millions upon millions of distraught homeowners and families at risk of losing or have already lost their home while the ARROGANT Bas..ds in the major banks, and the inept government officials who after 3 years of this stuff still don’t understand a thing about how the mortgage industry and banks work, and what they are not doing to help owners. I could go for hours abut the people I talk to or have worked with that have suffered greatly at the hand of arrogance and ineptitude.
Why me I ask? I look around and see I have an incredible and rich assortment of professional support people around me including writers like Candice who have helped write the story of the value of my Credit Moratorium Proposal as she struggles with her own failed loan mod, and prolific Bloggers/Authors like Martin who lead the charge on many fronts, my attorney Dale who I am grateful to for the many things he helped me with including my own loan modification plans (also failed up top this point!), Delia a wonderful giving CFP, who dedicates her life to helping people acheive financial security only to see many of them crumble under the weight of the market, or my many Realtor friends like Troy who almost kill themselves every day helping their struggling clients through the crazy world of short sales, as he deals with the crying, the anger, and the battles with every one of the banks who do nothing but make the process difficult, insulting, and in some cases illegal, as they determine who lives and who dies in the world of short sales. Last but not least myself and the many mortgage brokers I know who struggle every day to help homeowners in default to somehow save the homes they have lived in for as many as 10,20,30 years when the banks won’t even talk to them for months on end and then at the last minute when they are offered an insulting offer that they couldn’t possibly live up to the banks say take it or your out on the street in 8 days!!! Are you kidding me! Someone hold me back from these idiots!!!
Again, why me ? In the past 30 years, I have given 6 to the US Navy, earned my BS degree in finance, raised three wonderful kids, spent 5 year working for big banks like Wells Fargo, and the past 20 years growing my brokerage firm. I thought I did it all the right way. I suppose I have as much to gain or lose as anyone in the fight and feel that perhaps it is just my turn to “take a pull” into some strong headwinds. And although the big banks are doing everything they can to wipe out the mortgage broker profession so they can have it all and charge more, I refuse to go down with out a fight. In that past 20 years I have help over 1,000 homeowners get financing. I guarantee, to a client, they would say they appreciated my help, that I got them a good loan, and what a stupid, confusing mess, the loan process is, and thank goodness I was there whenever they needed professional and honest advice. I know, because many have told me so. Thanks to all of them. So it just feels like I am as responsible as anyone to help the cause. Sorry for the ranting. But, I felt compelled to set the tone and background.
Our plan is simple; to hold “Public Forum Discussions”, otherwise know as a protest rally, in front of the big 4-5 banks (Wells Fargo, Citi, Chase, and or course our friends at B of A), with homeowners and interested support people with signs and a video photographer to document the events. We hope to have them in major cities in California to start, and perhaps someone in other states and major cities will pick up the banner there. I hope to arrange the first public forum in San Diego within the next week to 10 days. I have arranged with a local video photographer to film and place it on YouTube for exposure so that the major media outlets will pick it up for more coverage. In addition, I have been offered writing services to document it with the intent to get the message to the LA times and other large newspapers.
Our plan is simple: Create enough media exposure to get the attention of the big banks and government watch groups with the message that it is crazy and.
#1) We want immediate short term solutions for struggling homeowners in the form of meaningful Loan Modifications.
#2) We want our mortgage credit restored to zero so we can begin to rebuild our financial credit history.
We have only limited means with which to have any influence. 1) Public outcry for media attention. 2) Vote with our consumer dollars by threatening to take out money out of the banks, and recommend that all Americans do likewise until something meaningful is done.
Let’s get started. While we are waiting, 8,000 homeowners a day are going into default. I say STOP THE MADNESS NOW!!
If anyone does not want to be associated with this cause please advise me so I can remove you immediately from our distribution list.
If you like our message or want to be involved please notify me or forward this message to someone you know. Thank you.
